In Baku, Max Verstappen left his rivals no chance. Starting from pole position, the three-time world champion achieved a grand slam : pole, fastest lap, and victory, leading the race from start to finish. A clinical performance that completely reignited the fight for the title.

Behind him, George Russell took a solid second place for Mercedes, while Carlos Sainz Jr. gave Williams its first podium since 2021. A highlight for the British team, which regained some of its former glory.

😱 Oscar Piastri's Nightmare

While leading the championship before this weekend, Oscar Piastri lost everything from the start. One false move, the anti-stall engaged, and the McLaren driver found himself last. A few corners later, he lost control and crashed into the wall. He retired on lap 1, his 34-race points streak broken.

His teammate Lando Norris was unable to save the day: slowed down by a slow pit stop, he finished only 7th. McLaren thus missed a great opportunity to seal the constructors' title in Baku.

🔥 Tense duel between Hamilton and Leclerc

The end of the race provided a delicious controversy. Lewis Hamilton, who was supposed to give up a position to Charles Leclerc following a Ferrari order, did so... but too late and clumsily. The result: Hamilton kept 8th place, Leclerc finished 9th, and the Scuderia left frustrated.
