The cap: a driver, a car or a line

A cap is the simplest piece in a wardrobe and the most exposed: it sits at eye level, and it speaks before you do. Here, twelve models share exactly the same construction. What separates them comes down to a few square centimetres of embroidery on the front panel.

One spec sheet for all twelve

Six panel baseball cut, curved brim, adjustable strap at the back, one size, unisex, cotton, front embroidery. Eleven models are black, one is beige.

That uniformity has a practical consequence: there is no size to pick, so there is no way to get it wrong, which makes it one of the few pieces on the site you can give without knowing anyone's measurements. That is why it keeps coming back in our gift ideas.

So the decision rests on one thing only: what you are willing to announce with it. Three families exist, and they do not say the same thing.

The marker
A number states an allegiance. A car states a taste. A line states a character. All three are wearable, none of them is worn the same way.

Four drivers, four numbers

The most direct option: the number on the front, and everybody understands. Leclerc with the 16 and his red car, Hamilton with the 44 in a Ferrari edition, Verstappen with the champion's 01, Norris with the McLaren 4.

These are the same four names that dominate the rest of the catalogue, and the cap is often the first piece bought before moving on to the driver t-shirt. The reverse happens too: three t-shirts already owned, and the cap becomes the accessory that goes with them.

One word of caution: a number ages with a career. If the person has followed F1 for ten years, they will survive a team change. If they have just arrived, a car ages better.

Four cars, four eras

Here the embroidery names nobody: it names a machine, and it does not expire.

Porsche 930 Turbo, embroidered "1975 Turbo Type 930". The quietest of the set, and the one that takes the most knowledge to be recognised.

Porsche 992 GT3 RS, the modern silhouette, for those who look at the GT3 RS range rather than at old history.

Ferrari F40, red on black, with the words "Italian Icon". The most colourful of the twelve.

Nissan GT-R R34, nicknamed Godzilla, the only Japanese entry in the series.

The embroidery in profile: the car takes the front panel, the rest stays black.

Four lines, four levels of discretion

The most interesting family, because it assumes no car knowledge in whoever walks past.

Paddock Club, beige, green embroidery, "Members Only". The only one that is not black, and by far the easiest to wear away from a circuit.

Drivers Only, black, beige embroidery. A short, status-led message with no visible brand.

Good Taste Club, black, the most graphic and the most fashion-led version of the house spirit.

Pretty Girls Love Fast Cars, black, red and white embroidery. The chattiest of the twelve, to be chosen knowingly.

Beige Paddock Club cap from the front, green Members Only embroidery
The only beige one of the series, and the easiest to wear in town.

Choosing, in three questions

Where will it be worn? At a circuit, anything goes. In town and at work, a car or a quiet line holds up better than a driver's number.

Black or beige? Eleven of the twelve are black, which goes with everything and draws no attention. The beige Paddock Club changes the silhouette and gets noticed, in the right way.

For yourself or as a gift? No size to guess, so the gift is safe. But if you do not know which driver the person follows, take a car or a line: picking the wrong team is spotted immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Are there several sizes?

No, one size across all twelve models, with an adjustable strap at the back. It is a unisex six panel baseball cut with a curved brim.

Which colours exist?

Eleven models are black. Only the Paddock Club is beige, with green embroidery.

Is the embroidery on the front?

Yes, on the front panel in every case: a driver's number, a car silhouette or a line, depending on the model.

Which one should I give if I do not know the person's taste?

A car or a line rather than a driver's number. Picking the wrong team shows immediately, a car drawing much less so.

Which drivers are available?

Charles Leclerc with the 16, Lewis Hamilton with the 44 in a Ferrari edition, Max Verstappen with the 01 and Lando Norris with the McLaren 4.

Twelve caps, one construction, three ways of introducing yourself. The choice is not about size or cut, but about what you are willing to announce. The number, the car, the line.
